About Ohio House Rabbit Rescue
Mission
Ohio House Rabbit Rescue’s mission is to operate the Ohio House Rabbit Adoption Center, rescue abandoned pet rabbits, offer a robust adoption program, and provide educational resources and programming on the proper care of rabbits as indoor companions. The organization envisions a community where all pet rabbits live indoors as companions, with access to a proper diet, habitat, and regular veterinary care for their entire lives.
Founding
OHRR was founded in 2009 by Beverly May, a longtime rabbit owner who saw the need for a rabbit-specific adoption center in Central Ohio. Every year, more than 900 rabbits are surrendered in Central Ohio alone, placing a burden on already full shelters and rescues. To address this issue, OHRR established and operates their adoption center, providing temporary housing and care for 30-35 rabbits at a time.
Adoption Center
The Ohio House Rabbit Adoption Center serves as a safe haven for rabbits in need. It provides shelter, medical care, and socialization to the rabbits while they await their forever homes. The center ensures that the rabbits receive the love and attention they deserve before being placed with loving families.
Annual Event
OHRR hosts the annual fall event called Midwest BunFest. This event celebrates rabbits and provides a platform for vendors, rescue partners, and rabbit enthusiasts to come together. Attendees can participate in various activities, educational sessions, and engage with like-minded individuals who share a passion for these adorable animals.
