A New Year of Rabbit Raising

As the year 2010 comes to a close I wanted to write a brief post containing information on where our rabbit breeders directory is planning on going in the year of 2011. As you might already know this directory has not even been officially launched yet. I know I had initially planned on getting it up and running by January 1st, 2011 however that date has unfortunately had to be moved into the future. Even though we have not even officially launched yet, I have been astounded with the amount of publicity rabbitbreeders.us has already received. We have already gained a very large number of twitter followers after doing a simple advertising campaign and also around 170 facebook page fans. I also want to personally thank the bloggers who have already taken the time to link to our site.

One good thing about setbacks is the fact that they many times help you improve your initial plans. That statement proved to be true with our rabbit breeders site. I have thought of some awesome ideas on how to improve our directory such as deciding to make a breed index along with our state (location based directory). This improvement will allow us to list every rabbitry submitted in two different directories within rabbitbreeders.us! Of course this means more publicity for your rabbitry listing in the future! Plus I believe that this will make searching for rabbits much easier when considering the buyers. Below I have posted an example of how our breeders directory is intended to work:

John Smith is interested in raising rabbits. He recently has purchased an informational book about rabbits from a local book store. John learns that there are over 40 recognized rabbit breeds in the United States. John decides to ask a few friends if they know of any rabbit breeders in the area. Unfortunately since it is early November (a very hard time to find rabbits for sale), all of John’s friends say that they don’t know of anyone who currently has bunnies for sale. John decides to try searching the internet for local rabbit breeders. John quickly pulls up his favorite search engine- Google. He decides to type in rabbit breeders in texas (his state of residence) into google. In about a second Google displays its organic listings showing a page from rabbit breeders .us. John clicks on the page and sees a nice listing of texas rabbit breeders. He notices that the rabbitries are listed by city in their respective alphabetic order. John scrolls a little down the page and sees five rabbitry listings in his home city of Austin, Texas! Great, John says to himself, just what I was hoping to find. John all of a sudden finds himself disappointed however, due to the fact that all the breeders from Austin just raise and sell Californian Rabbits. John was hoping to find Jersey Wooly rabbit breeders. John spends the next fifteen minutes browsing the texas index page looking for Jersey Wooly Breeders. Finally he finds a jersey breeder located in the woodlands, TX. He dials the phone number they had listed to find out if they currently had any jerseys for sale. Unfortunately after having a conversation with the breeder he learns that they had recently sold all of their available rabbits. John, trying to take the initiative uses the cool little search bar located on the top right hand corner of rabbitbreeders.us and types in Jersey Wooly Rabbit Breeders. He is excited to find that there is any entire page devoted to Jersey Wooly Breeders. He once again scrolls down the page and notices that Louisiana has lots of jersey wooly breeders. After making a quick telephone call he finds a very friendly lady who has around 10 jerseys for sale. The next weekend John takes a road trip to Louisiana to get a trio of jersey wooly rabbits.

Six months later John has an established rabbitry with around 15 rabbits. Remembering the site he used to connect with the Louisiana Rabbit Breeder, he once again types in https://rabbitbreeders.us/ into his URL bar and this time he clicks on the submit a rabbitry tab. He fills out the simple form on the page and then checks his email to find a link containing the special url in which he could easily submit his own rabbitry to our directory.

-Although the success story above was just an example, I hope it helped give you a better understand of how our rabbit breeders directory is intended to work.

Happy Rabbit Raising, Talk Soon…….. 🙂
