Meeting Rabbit Breeders
Ideally unless you need to have your rabbits shipped, you will want to meet the rabbit breeder that you are buying rabbits from.
The cool thing about our rabbit breeders directory is the fact that we encourage rabbit raisers to post quality rabbitry descriptions on the listing pages. Hopefully this feature will allow you to distinguish the dedicated rabbit fanciers that you will want to purchase your rabbits from. If the bunny rabbit breeder has a website of their own we also list that in the listing. Before I purchase rabbits from a breeder I want to know whether or not they come from a good bloodline. Sometimes an average looking rabbit can produce some excellent kits if the rabbit happens to come from a champion bloodline. Also, just because a rabbit looks nice doesn’t mean that it is the best rabbit available for you to buy.
Each rabbitry listing in our directory will contain contact information which will allow you to get in touch with a local breeder. We try our best to keep this rabbit breeders list as update as possible so that you don’t have to waste your time calling breeders that no longer raise rabbits. You should be able to find either an email address or phone number on each and every listing. Don’t be shy… once you have located a rabbit breeder feel free to “give them a holler”.
When contacting a breeder be sure to be polite when asking questions. Ask them if they currently have any rabbits for sale and be sure to also ask about prices. Sometimes rabbit raisers will forget or run out of time to update their online listings with current information, so please be courteous. Remember: the majority of rabbit raisers breed rabbits for a hobby not a full time job.
Go ahead and setup a time and date if possible to meet up with the rabbit raiser. Some rabbit breeders may allow you to come by and tour their rabbitry before making a purchase. However if a rabbit breeder has hundreds of rabbits like I do, tours will most likely be out of the question. Feel free to ask the breeder about tours when contacting them.
If you haven’t already be sure to check out our State Rabbit Breeders Index to begin searching for local bunny breeders.
